The park
The castle is immersed in a centuries-old park, bordered by spring-fed watercourses.
The water that sinks deeply at the foot of the mountains and travels for tens of kilometers underground finds in this place an impermeable wall of silts that blocks it and pushes it rapidly to the surface. This results in the formation of streams, springs, and crystalline ponds.
The Castle and its old hamlet
The village developed over the centuries outside the castle walls. The two castles were surrounded by a double defensive wall with several gates.
Today, some parts of the outer walls remain, corresponding to the Cisis Gate, which leads to the complex of the Lower Castle, and the Cistigna Gate, the large arch that leads into the complex of the Upper Castle.
